FAQ

The Answers You Need

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING AND MICROSHADING?

Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow procedure where pigment is implanted under the skin using a manual hand tool instead of a traditional tattoo machine. It uses a fine blade to create natural hair strokes that resembles real hair.

Microshading is also performed using a manual hand tool but it uses a tiny round needle instead of a slope needle. This technique is similar to microblading but it creates a fuller and softer powdered effect that resembles eyebrow pencil or powder. It also has the effect of ombré eyebrows when mixed with microblading.

IS THE PROCEDURE SAFE?

Each procedure is done under strict sanitation and sterilization rules. A well-trained, certified technician administers each procedure using disposable needles and parts. Before starting each procedure, the technician will open a new needle package to each client.

IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?

Highly effective topical anesthetic cream is used to numb the area to be treated. This helps to alleviate any minor discomfort you may experience during the procedure. Comfort levels varies according to individual pain threshold and response to anesthetics. Some people describe what they feel as ‘irritation’, ‘vibration’, or ‘a slight burning sensation’.

ARE THERE ANY ALLERGIC REACTIONS TO THE PIGMENTS?

The pigments used on all our procedures are hypoallergenic and reactions to these products are extremely rare. However, after care instructions should be strictly followed to prevent any bacterial infection.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

We provide very specific post-care instructions after your procedure. It is highly beneficial to follow these instructions to ensure a good healing process and to achieve the best results. The most essential aftercare is to avoid extreme heat (like saunas, jacuzzi, hot yoga, steam rooms, places with hot humidity) and do not rub or pick on the scabs.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PERIOD LIKE?

Immediately following a procedure, there will be mild swelling, redness, or tenderness that lasts a few hours to a few days (hairline and eyebrows swell less than eyes and lips). There may also be slight bruising with lip procedures. As part of the healing process, you may experience mild peeling, flaking or scabbing. Most people are amazed at how “normal” they look immediately after and do not feel it is necessary to take time off work.

WHAT WILL THE FINAL COLOR LOOK LIKE?

Color will always look darker and more intense immediately following a procedure. It will gradually lighten and soften upon healing, which should take about 3 to 7 days and continue to lighten over several weeks.

HOW LONG DOES SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP LAST?

Semi-permanent makeup will last up to 1-2.5 years. It will gradually fade over time and we recommend that our clients come in for an annual touch-up to maintain a good shape and color. However, the frequency of touch-ups depend on a number of factors including: your skin type, lifestyle (sun exposure), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas.

PRE/AFTER CARE

Eyeliner Tattoo

EYELINE CARE

Please read through this before arriving at your appointment. Not adhering can impact your end results.

PRE-CARE

  • No excessive alcohol consumption 24 hours before your procedure.

  • Avoid sun and tanning one week prior to procedure.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 24 hours before the procedure.

  • No eyelash extension, eyelash perm & tinting

  • Discontinue Retin-A one week prior to your procedure.

  • No Botox around the eye area 2 weeks prior.

  • Do not drink coffee or any caffeine on the day of your appointment.

  • Please Note: You will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

AFTER-CARE

Healing

  • Healing takes about 7 – 10 days

  • The colour becomes much softer and fades 30 - 50% lighter

  • Swelling and redness is normal for the first few days.

  • Slight stinging sensation in the first few days is also normal.

  • The colour will fade approximately 30-50% when the scab peels off. This is completely normal. Do not feel discouraged if the fading is more than you expected.

  • To achieve the perfect eyeliner, we need to see how your skin accepts the initial application and a touch-up appointment is where we will perfect the shape and colour.

  • No eye make-up is allowed until the scabbing is completely peeled off.

  • Avoid cleansing products around the eyes

  • Water contact is allowed 5 hours after the procedure.

Scabbing

  • The eyeliner will start to form scabs and they might look dark and thick. As the skin heals, the scabs will fall off in random pieces throughout the eyeline and might look patchy

  • Flaking and crusting on eyes may occur

  • Avoid pulling off the scabs that are dried out on the lashes

  • When you try to pull off the scabs that are hanging on your lashes, ensure the scabs are soft enough to slide off from the lashes.

Swelling

  • Swelling occurs up to 3 days especially in the morning.

  • Exercising the eyes can help reduce swelling and puffiness

  • To relieve the swelling, you can ice the area with soft gel ice packs

A follow-up touch-up is usually necessary and can be completed any time after 4 weeks from the initial appointment.
